  1.     The Moon is second only to the Sun in order of importance in your
  2. horoscope. Whereas your Sun sign shapes you in outwardly visible ways,
  3. your Moon sign's effects on you are more subtle and internal. The
  4. Moon rules your emotions, dreams, and subconscious. It shapes your
  5. innermost fears, desires, loves, and needs.
  6.     When the Moon is in harmony with the rest of the planets in your
  7. horoscope, your emotions and desires are in harmony with the reality
  8. of your life--you are personally fulfilled and emotionally stable.
  9.     If the Moon is afflicted (at odds with another planet in your 
  10. horoscope), your dark side tends to emerge (anger, jealousy, hate, fear,
  11. depression, etc.)

  13.     The Moon's diameter is about one-fourth that of earth, and its mass 
  14. is about 1.23 percent that of earth. Having no free water on its surface 
  15. nor any atmosphere, the Moon has no weather to alter its heavily cratered 
  16. surface. And since the Moon rotates on its axis once per orbit around the 
  17. Earth, the same side of the Moon always faces the earth. The Moon 
  18. completes its elliptical orbit around the earth once every 27 days, 7 
  19. hours, 43 minutes, and 11.5 seconds (relative to the stars).
  20.     The ancients believed that the dark regions on the Moon's surface were 
  21. oceans, giving rise to the Latin name "mare" (or sea) which is still used 
  22. in the present day. They believed that the brighter areas were continents. 
  23. With the advent of telescopes in the 17th century, astronomers discovered 
  24. many features on the surface (craters, mountains, faults, rays, and domes). 
  25. In 1969, the American Apollo 11 spacecraft carried the first humans to the 
  26. Moon.

  29. Helios, the sun god. She fell in love with a shepherd named Endymion and 
  30. then lulled him into an eternal sleep so that he could never leave her.
